Biography
Kiril Krstevski is a Professor in Infectious Diseases and Veterinary Epidemiology, and Head of the Laboratory for Serology at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, University Ss. Cyril and Methodius in Skopje, Macedonia. He holds a DVM, MSc, and PhD, with his postgraduate research focusing on the prevalence and molecular characterization of transboundary and zoonotic pathogens, including bluetongue virus and Brucella spp.
With over 15 years of professional experience, Dr. Krstevski has combined academic, diagnostic, and policy expertise to strengthen animal health systems in support of One Health objectives. As Laboratory Head since 2011, he has overseen ISO 17025–accredited testing for national official control programs, introduced and validated advanced molecular and serological methods. His work has bridged animal and human health sectors through improved diagnostics for diseases with significant zoonotic potential, such as brucellosis, rabies, Q fever, and listeriosis.
An experienced trainer and lecturer, Dr. Krstevski has led trainings and courses on disease diagnostics and laboratory quality management, mentoring veterinary and public health professionals from different countries. He is the author or co-author of over 50 peer-reviewed publications and technical reports, and an invited speaker at regional and global scientific meetings.
Kiril’s career reflects the core principles of One Health—recognizing the interdependence of human, animal, and environmental health—and his work continues to focus on strengthening laboratory networks, advancing evidence-based surveillance, and fostering international collaboration to detect, prevent, and control infectious diseases.
